Two seriously injured after speeding driver crashes into culvert

Two men are currently hospitalised following a serious accident on the No. 70 Public Road on Tuesday at about 20:37 hrs.

Hospitalised at the Georgetown Public Hospital is the driver of the car involved in the accident Ulric Ramkishun, 38, of Queenstown, Corriverton, Berbice; passenger Methuselah John, 23, a Security Guard attached to the Ogle Airport and who resides at Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara is at the New Amsterdam Hospital.

The News Room understands that Ramkishun was proceeding north along the western drive lane with John in the front passenger seat, reportedly at a fast rate when he lost control of the car and ploughed through a culvert and the ridges of two bridges on the eastern side before turning turtle and coming to an abrupt stop on the eastern parapet.

They were rushed to the Skeldon Public Hospital and later transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where John was admitted for a fractured left shoulder while the driver was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital for injuries to his left shoulder, left foot and spine.

Ramkishun’s condition is listed as serious but stable, while John’s condition is regarded as stable. An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
