Motorcyclist, 26, dies in Mon Repos accident

A 26-year-old motorcyclist died just after 22:00 hrs on Friday following an accident on the Mon Repos Public Road, East Coast Demerara.

Police identified the dead man as Akeem Ming of Roxanne Burnham Gardens, Georgetown. He was at the time riding motorcycle #CJ 1204 along with pillion rider 17-year-old Crystal Hoasjoe of Crown Street Queenstown, Georgetown.

Police said Ming was proceeding east along the northern carriageway when it was alleged that he observed a police pickup and began to accelerate the motorcycle.

He lost control and collided into a motorcar and a lorry which were both parked on the northern side of the road.

As a result of the impact, both the Ming and Hoasjoe received injuries about their bodies.

They were picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where Ming was pronounced dead.

Hoasjoe was admitted a patient in the female surgical ward suffering from multiple injuries about the body.
