A 49-year-old goldsmith from Westminster Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara was robbed just after 20:00 hrs on Saturday during a home invasion.
Police said three unknown males, one armed with a handgun and the others with knives, carried out the act.
According to reports, the victim was on his verandah when the perpetrators jumped his fence and attacked him, kicking him to his face in the process.
The suspects then entered the house where they held the victim’s wife and two children hostage, demanding valuables.
They took with them one black Lenovo laptop computer valued $100,000: two black Amazon tablets total value $40,000; one black iPhone S5 cellular phone valued $60,000; one BLU cellular phone valued $30,000; $50,000 cash and a quantity of gold jewelry (value unknown at this time).
The suspects then escaped on foot.
