‘Sweetie’ vendor robbed by motorcycle bandits
A 44-year-old female ‘sweetie’ vendor was robbed just after 20:00 hours on Saturday night as she plied her trade at National Avenue, South Ruimveldt.
Police said two identifiable males, one armed with a handgun, robed the woman of one cellphone valued $55,000,00 and $15,000,00 cash.
According to reports, the woman was selling confectioneries when the two perpetrators rode up on a motorcycle and stopped at the victim’s stand to purchase items.
The pillion rider came off the motorcycle and approached the woman, pointing a handgun at her and demanded her valuables.
She was afraid and handed over the phone and cash mentioned after which the suspects made good their escape on the motorcycle.
Police said checks were made to locate the suspects but this proved futile.
