Louie Lewis of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was on Monday remanded to prison for the robbery and assault committed on a woman in his community six months ago.

Lewis appeared before City Magistrate Leron Daly and denied that on February 9 he robbed a Vishani Paul of a printer, cartridges, a Nikon camera and other camera accessories valued at $1, 259,600, with the use of personal violence.

Lewis also denied that on the said date and location, he unlawfully assaulted Paul.

Police Prosecutor Annalisa Brummel told the Court that Lewis is a known criminal character and has similar pending charges before the Court.

Brummel further told the court that Lewis and the victim are known to each other.

As such, Magistrate Daly remanded Lewis to prison until October 18.
