    Five unvaccinated people died from COVID-19 between September 19 and 21, taking September’s death toll thus far 113; overall a total of 738 persons have died since March 2020.

    September 2021 is the only month to record the highest number of deaths and infections. The Ministry of Health in a statement noted that all five patients – three women and two men – died while receiving care at medical institutions. The details on the deaths of the five persons were released by the ministry are listed in the image below:

    Meanwhile, Guyana on Tuesday recorded 141 new COVID cases, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 29, 824; the new infections were recorded from 1, 492 tests.

    The new cases were recorded in the following regions; Region One (five new cases), Region Two (four cases), Region Three (30 cases), Region Four (73 cases), Region Six (20 new cases), Region Seven (seven cases), Region Nine (one case) and Region Ten (one case).

    A breakdown in the cases reveals that more women than men are being infected.

    There are 30 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 155 patients are in institutional isolation and 3, 525 are in home isolation.

    To date, 25, 376 persons have recovered from the virus.
