MMC security guard found dead at worksite

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 65-year-old Yvette Wilson, a security guard attached to MMC Security Service.

Wilson was found dead at about 05:00hrs on Tuesday at her worksite – David Persaud Investment Inc. located at Happy Acres, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Police Headquarters reported that the woman, who lived at Paradise, ECD, was on duty from 19:00hrs Monday to 07:00hrs Tuesday; investigations so far revealed that about 03:00hrs Tuesday, she made an entry into the site’s diary.

Two hours later, she was discovered motionless in the guard hut by a supervisor who made checks at the site.

The police reported that Wilson suffered from hypertension and only returned to work on Tuesday after taking sick leave; she had visited the Georgetown Hospital on September 18 and was told to return the following day.

Police said the body was examined and no marks of violence were seen; she was later transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital and pronounced dead.

The body is now at the Sandy’s Funeral Parlour awaiting an autopsy.
