A 59-year-old Stanleytown, New Amsterdam man died after he crashed into a parked truck along the Beterverwagting Railway Embankment on the East Coast of Demerara on Tuesday afternoon.
Dead is Charles Roberts; the accident occurred at about 15:15hrs, Police Headquarters reported.
Police said Charles was driving motorcar PRR 1050 in a western direction on the southern side of the road when he lost control and collided with the left side of the truck trailer on the northern side of the road.
As a result of the collision, Charles received injuries to his body and was removed from the car by public-spirited citizens in an unconscious condition. He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
