Police are on the hunt for a lone bandit who robbed a 63-year-old female shopkeeper at her Industry Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara house on Wednesday night.
A police report noted that the woman operates a grocery shop at the bottom flat of her house; at around 20:15hrs, she was in the process of securing her shop while her sister was assisting her in locking the gate.
As soon as the gate was locked, the suspect jumped the fence and held her at knifepoint. It is alleged that the bandit took the woman into the shop and relieved her of $35,000 in cash and a quantity of phone cards.
The investigation is ongoing.
