A 55-year-old man was arrested on Thursday after he allegedly abused and threatened to kill the Mayor of Rose Hall Town, 39-year- old Dave Budhu.
Police Headquarters in a statement said the incident occurred at Republic Arch Road in Rose Hall. Mayor Budhu alleged that while offloading tools from a truck along with the Town Clerk, Natasha Griffith and other staff, the suspect approached him on a bicycle and started to abuse him.
The Mayor further alleged that the suspect then pulled out a knife from his waist and threatened to kill him.
According to the police report, the Mayor was fearful for his life and ran to safety in the market where he summoned the police.
The suspect was then arrested and taken to the Albion Police Station.
