5 unvaccinated people die from COVID; 252 new cases recorded

Five unvaccinated persons died from COVID-19 between September 23 and September 24, taking the country’s death toll to 749.

The latest fatalities also mean that for the month of September, 124 persons died – the highest number of deaths recorded in one month since March 2020.

The Ministry of Health in a statement revealed that all of the patients died while receiving medical care at facilities. The details on the persons who died are as follows;

Meanwhile, a total of 252 new COVID cases were recorded on Friday from 2, 062 tests, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 30, 696.

The cases were recorded in the following regions; Region One (one case), Region Three (40 cases), Region Four (139 cases), Region Five (eight cases), Region Six (four cases), Region Seven (four cases), Region Eight (three cases), Region Nine (six cases) and Region Ten (47 cases).

There are 33 patients in the COVID-19 ICU at the Infectious Diseases Hospital; 183 patients are in institutional isolation and 3, 592 patients are in home isolation.

To date, 26, 139 persons have recovered from the virus.
