A 12-year-old girl of Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara is now a patient at the West Demerara Regional Hospital after a relative reportedly gave her drugs and alcohol to consume.
According to a police report, on Friday around 21:00hrs, the victim’s aunt made a report to the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station that a male relative had given the child the substances.
She was then taken to the hospital and examined by a doctor.
A breathalyzer test was conducted and showed she had 60% of BAC in her breath; she was later admitted for observation.
Police said that checks were made for the alleged suspect but he was not found.
Investigations are ongoing.
