Juveniles who broke out of Sophia Holding Centre recaptured
Authorities have recaptured four juveniles who broke of the Sophia Holding Centre in the wee hours of Saturday.
According to the police, the juveniles who were housed in cells three and four at the Holding Centre, escaped around 02:45hrs by breaking the padlocks and removing pieces of wood from the ceiling on the eastern side of the building.
According to the police report, ranks who were on duty at the facility heard a loud noise and upon checking, noticed the four juvenile on Dennis Street, Sophia running in a western direction.
One of the ranks reportedly chased after the children but they made their way to Pike Street in Campbellville.
However, a police patrol was informed and the four were later recaptured on Delhi Street, Prashad Nagar and taken to the Brickdam Police Station.
Two broken padlocks and four pieces of steel rods that are suspected to be used in the escape were found at the scene.
