Construction worker stabbed by sister’s child father

A 32-year-old construction worker of Bush Lot Village, Corentyne, Berbice, was on Sunday stabbed several times about the body by a man who reportedly shared a relationship with his sister.

Police Headquarters reported that the stabbing occurred around 18:50hrs.

The victim’s sister bore a child for the suspect and at the time of the stabbing, the suspect was reportedly picking up the said child.

Police said while the construction worker was opening the gate for the suspect, he [the suspect] drew a knife from his pants waist and dealt the victim several stabs to his upper chest and both hands and then escaped.

The victim was rushed to the Port Mourant Public Hospital and later referred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he is admitted as patient, in a stable condition.

Checks were made for the suspect, but he is yet to be found.

Investigations are ongoing.
