Labourer admits to verbally abusing 90-Y-0 mother

Dindial Balram, 62, a labourer, pleaded guilty to verbally abusing his 90-year-old mother Homranie Balram. The incident occurred at their No. 67 Village, Corentyne Berbice house on September 12.

According to a police report, Balram appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore via Skype at the Springlands Magistrate’s Court on September 13 and was charged with abusive language.

The News Room understands that when neighbours contacted the police at the Springlands Police Station on the day of the incident, they were told that no ranks were available to investigate the matter.

Police said Balram was placed on a bond to keep the peace for 18 months and to refrain from any form of abuse towards his mother.

“If the bond is breached the defendant is to serve eight weeks in prison,” the police reported.
