Police have arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly trying to bribe an inspector. Police Headquarters reported that the incident occurred on Monday at the Golden Grove Police Station.
According to the report, the suspect’s 44-year-old cousin was arrested for narcotics possession at about 12:00hrs on Monday.
The suspect went to the station and allegedly offered the inspector $40,000 to drop the investigation against his cousin.
Subsequently, the accused left and returned with $32,000, which he handed over to the inspector in the presence of a Corporal, police reported.
Police said the suspect was then told of the offence committed. He was subsequently cautioned, arrested and placed in custody.
