Police have arrested a man who has “religious standing” in a community of Region Six (East-Berbice Corentyne) for the alleged rape of a 17-year-old boy.
Police Headquarters reported that the incident occurred in Region Six at a religious function on September 24.
“It is alleged that the suspect used his religious standing to gain the confidence of family at a religious function where he dismissed the other family members before committing the act,” police reported.
The matter was then reported and the man was arrested.
