Motorcycle bandits rob labourer of cell phone, shoot at police on patrol
Two bandits on a motorcycle, one of whom was armed with a handgun, robbed a 26-year-old labourer of his LG smartphone valued at $30,000 on Tuesday.
Police reported that the incident occurred at about 19:30hrs along the Sugrim Singh Road, Ogle, East Coast Demerara.
According to reports, the labourer was heading south when the suspects attacked him; they took his phone, pushed him into a nearby trench and escaped.
Meanwhile, a police patrol from Sparendaam Police Station was in the area and gave chase behind the bandits when the pillion rider discharged a round; the police were unable to return fire due to traffic in the area.
Police said no one was injured as investigations continue.
