Intoxicated man verbally abuses mother, stabs neighbour

Police are on the hunt for a 28-year-old Parika, Sea Dam, East Bank Essequibo man who stabbed his 33-year-old neighbour on Wednesday night during a confrontation.

Police said Anil Samsudeen is battling for his life at the Georgetown Public Hospital after being stabbed to the abdomen. According to the police report, the suspect went home drunk at around 23:00hrs and told his 61-year-old mother that he wants his food but she told him to serve himself.

He became annoyed and threw the pot with the food to the ground and started to abuse her verbally. The victim, who lives next door, heard the confrontation and went over to enquire and cautioned the suspect to desist from attacking his mother but he continued.

According to the police, the suspect then asked the victim if he wants to do something about it and the victim replied “if you want do something come do it”.

At the time, the suspect who was armed with a black knife, walked up to the victim and stabbed him before escaping.

The victim was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital and then transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital. Detectives have since recovered the weapon as the search continues for the suspect.
