The Guyana Lottery Company on Friday (October 1, 2021) opened its second company-owned ‘BLAST’ Gaming Centre, this time in the East Coast Demerara community of Enmore.
General Manager of the Lottery Company, Tracey Lewis, and the company’s Brand Ambassador Rawle Toney officially commissioned the modern facility during a simple ceremony at the Enmore Mall.
The first company-owned ‘BLAST’ Gaming Centre is located on Mandela Avenue in Georgetown.
Lewis said the BLAST brand is growing in popularity countrywide, and this is just another avenue being created to involve communities in gaming.
The Enmore location has 35 machines (eight games per machine) and the investment by the Lottery Company was tipped at $25 million.
“We really wanted to put ourselves within a local community,” Lewis remarked. “We think this will enhance the community greatly.”
According to Lewis, persons from within the community have been employed at the Centre.
“So our investment is not only with the store, but we’re also ensuring that the people around here are the ones that we recruit to work here.”
Lewis added that the Lottery Company is always looking at ways and means of expanding and promoting its brand, and more initiatives are in the pipeline, including Centres in outlying regions.
Importantly, persons must be 18 years or older to play. All COVID-19 protocols would be enforced at the new ‘BLAST’ Gaming Centre, which would operate from 10:00h to 21:00h daily.
The ‘BLAST’ brand
In 2017, The Guyana Lottery Company expanded its portfolio with the launch of Video Lottery Terminals (VLT’s) with the Brand Name ‘BLAST’; a new and exciting addition to the dimension of games of chance already offered.
“Available in more than 30 gaming rooms countrywide, from Berbice to Port Kaituma and Kwakwani to Mahdia, ‘BLAST’ is a favorite pastime in all 10 Regions of Guyana,” the Lottery Company said.
“The expansion and accessibility are important factors on the Guyana Lottery Company’s radar to ensure that those who wish to play our games are able to do so conveniently.”
“The Guyana Lottery Company will continue raising the bar by offering new and improved games that thrill and captivate players and will be rolling out company-owned stores offering fantastic player experience, a safe and secure environment, responsible gaming protocols and COVID regulations.”
