Four more die from COVID; 242 new cases recorded

Guyana recorded four additional COVID-19 deaths between October 2nd and September 29; two deaths were recorded on October 01 and the other two on September 29 and October 02. Three of those who died were unvaccinated while the other was partially vaccinated, the Ministry of Health reported.

The latest fatalities take the total number of deaths since March 2020 to 796, it also means that for the month of September alone, 168 persons died. Meanwhile, for October thus far, three COVID deaths were recorded.

The details on the persons who died are as follows;

Meanwhile, 242 new COVID-19 cases were recorded from a total of 2, 185 tests, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 32, 297.

The new cases were recorded in the following regions; Region One (one case), Region Two (17 cases), Region Three (55 cases), Region Four (118 cases), Region Five (seven cases), Region Six (13 cases), Region Seven (18), Region Nine (11 cases) and Region Ten (two cases).

There are 32 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 137 persons are in institutional isolation and 3, 872 persons are in home isolation.

To date, 27, 460 persons have recovered from the dreaded virus.
