In response to the growing labour demands in the oil and gas sector, the Guyana Shore Base Inc. (GYSBI) will be hosting a number of career fairs later this month. GYSBI in a statement said they aim to hire 150 people at the events which will be held at Providence, East Bank Demerara on October 9, at Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara on October 10, and at Enmore/Haslington, East Coast Demerara on October 16. All three events will begin at 10:00 am and conclude at 05:00 pm.
The positions to be filled include; Warehouse Supervisors, Crane Operators, Operations Assistants, Equipment Mechanics/Technicians, and Fuel Storage and Dispensing Operators. Interested applicants are asked to walk with their resumes, any academic certificates, a copy of a valid form of ID, and one passport photograph.
Only persons with a vaccination card or a negative PCR test from within the last seven days of the fairs will be allowed entry.
With almost 500 employees, GYSBI has already achieved 97% local content. Rabin Chandarpal, the Government Liaison Officer of GYSBI, said, “Our people take pride in their work and understand their impact on the local community.
