Corentyne family robbed at gunpoint

Police are on the hunt for four men who pounced and robbed a No.68 Village, Corentyne, Berbice family while they were imbibing in front of their house.

Police Headquarters revealed that the incident occurred at around 21:30hrs on Saturday night. The victims included a 51-year-old housewife, a 39-year-old overseas-based female, a 47-year-old housewife and a 19-year-old overseas-based male.

Three of the bandits were armed with handguns whole aother had a knife; they stole a Samsung Galaxy cellular phone valued at $50,000, a pair of gold earrings valued at $56,000, a gold bangle valued at $70,000; $105,000 in cash, two gold and diamond rings valued at $400,000and one gold bangle valued at $100,000.

They also stole six gold bangles valued at $360,000; a gold ring valued at $50,000; $350 US currency and a Samsung cell phone valued at $48,000.

Police said the victims and six other members of her family were in front of their yard imbibing when four males – all dressed in dark coloured clothing and black masks over their faces – entered the yard, through a gate, which was opened, and held them at gunpoint.

They demanded the valuables and then escaped on foot.
