Guyana exceeds 800 COVID deaths, 103 new cases recorded

Another four COVID-19 deaths have been recorded taking Guyana’s overall death toll since March 2020 to 803.

The Ministry reported an additional death for September, which means that 169 persons would have succumbed to the dreaded virus for that month alone – the highest death toll recorded in a single month since the pandemic hit these shores.

October’s death toll currently stands at nine. Three of those who died were unvaccinated while the other was partially vaccinated.

The details on the persons who died are as follows:

Meanwhile, 103 new COVID-19 cases were recorded from a total of 484 tests, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 32, 586.

The new cases were recorded in the following regions; Region One (14 cases), Region Two (11 cases), Region Three (21 cases), Region Four (43 cases), Region Five (one case), Region Six (one case), Region Seven (four cases), and Region Ten (eight cases).

There are 31 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 122 persons are in institutional isolation and 3, 603 persons are in home isolation. To date, 28, 027 persons have recovered from the dreaded virus.
