9 more COVID deaths, 250 cases; 34 in ICU

Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll is now at 816 with nine more deaths recorded, the Ministry of Health reported on Wednesday.

Of those nine deaths, eight persons were unvaccinated and the other, partially vaccinated.

Those deaths are as follows:

Of the nine 19 deaths, two were recorded in August – two women on the 26th and 29th, which means that month’s death toll increased to 81.

The News Room understands that one of those women, the 79-year-old of Region Two (Pomeroon-Supernaam) died at home and was tested for the virus after her death.

October’s death toll is now at 20.  Meanwhile, 250 new infections were also recorded, pushing Guyana’s total infections since March 2020 to 32,951. Those were recorded from 1,371 COVID-19 tests.

These new infections were recorded from: Region One (eight cases), Region Two (one case), Region Three (52 cases), Region Four (136 cases), Region Five (nine cases), Region Six (five cases), Region Seven (16 case), Region Eight (nine cases), Region Nine (11 cases) and Region 10 (three cases).

There are 34 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 151 people in institutional isolation, 3,553 are in home isolation and six people in institutional quarantine.

Importantly, a total of 28, 397 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
