Boy, 13, finds gun while playing in backyard

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a .38 Taurus revolver in the backyard of a Reliance Settlement, East Canje Berbice resident on Wednesday.

Police Headquarters reported that the 39-year-old resident contacted the Reliance Police Station and reported that his 13-year-old son was playing in their backyard when he discovered the .38 Taurus revolver under a tree.

Police ranks subsequently visited the man’s residence and the revolver was retrieved and taken to the Reliance Police Station, where it was examined and no serial number was seen on the weapon.

The weapon was lodged as further enquiries are ongoing.
