Four more COVID deaths; 162 new cases, 30 in ICU

Four more persons died from COVID-19 pushing Guyana’s total deaths to 825. Of the four deaths – three women and one man –  two were unvaccinated, one partially vaccinated while the vaccination status of the other person is unknown.

It should be noted that three of those deaths were recorded on October 7 and 8 while the other was recorded on September 30.

This means that the total deaths for September increased to 170, making it the deadliest month since the virus was first recorded here in March 2020. October’s death toll has increased to 28.

Meanwhile, new infections were recorded from 1,901 PCR tests putting Guyana’s total infections at 33,337.

Those new cases were recorded in: Region One (two cases), Region Two (10 cases), Region Three (17 cases), Region Four (97 cases), Region Five (five cases), Region Six (two cases), Region Seven (11 cases), Region Eight (three cases), Region Nine (six cases) and Region 10 (nine cases).

Additionally, there are 30 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 169 people in institutional isolation, 3,430 are in home isolation and six people in institutional quarantine.

Importantly, a total of 28,883 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
