Woman collapses and dies at Vigilance Magistrate’s Court

A 58-year-old woman collapsed and died while attending the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD) on Friday.

Dead is Gloria Thomas, a housewife of Vigilance South, East Coast Demerara.  The News Room was reliably informed that Thomas had accompanied her son to the court at around 09:30hrs for a case the police had against him.

The News Room understands that while waiting for the court to start, Thomas reportedly complained of feeling unwell and she collapsed in the courtroom.

Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) arrived at the scene and administered oxygen to the woman but she remained unconscious. As such, the EMTs, with the help of a police officer, tried resuscitating Thomas, but this was futile.

Thomas was subsequently taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where she was officially pronounced dead.
