Five more COVID deaths, 130 new cases

Five additional persons have died from COVID-19 pushing Guyana’s total deaths to 840, the Ministry of Health reported on Sunday.

The five deaths included two men and three women with the youngest being a 41-year-old man from Region Three (Essequibo Islands, West Demerara) and the oldest an 84-year-old woman from Region Four (Demerara Mahaica).

One of the new death was a fully vaccinated person while another was partially vaccinated; the three others were unvaccinated.

The details on the latest fatalities are below:

It should be noted that the five deaths were recorded between October 08 and October 10. This means that October’s death toll has increased to 43.

Meanwhile, 130 new infections were recorded from 1, 175 tests putting Guyana’s total infections at 33, 696.

Those new cases were recorded in: Region One (two cases), Region Two (19 cases), Region Three (10 cases), Region Four (73 cases), Region Five (five cases), Region Six (three cases), Region Seven (one case), Region Eight (16 cases) and Region Nine (one case).

Additionally, there are 27 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 148 people in institutional isolation, 3,689 are in home isolation, and nine people are in institutional quarantine.

Importantly, a total of 28,992 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
