3 more COVID deaths; 150 new cases, 36 in ICU
Three more persons have succumbed to the dreaded COVID-19 virus, the Ministry of Health reported on Wednesday, increasing Guyana’s over death toll to 851.
Of the three deaths, two were women and the other, a man; two were unvaccinated while the other’s vaccination status was unknown.
It should be noted that one of the new deaths was recorded on September 26. This puts September’s death toll at 172 – the highest death toll recorded in a single month since the pandemic hit these shores.
Additionally, October’s death toll increased to 52.
Meanwhile, 150 new infections were recorded from 521 PCR tests, increasing Guyana’s total infections to 33, 973 since the first case in March 2020.
Those cases were recorded in Region One (five cases), Region Two (13 cases), Region Three (29 cases), Region Four (68 cases), Region Five (six cases), Region Six (seven cases), Region Seven (seven cases), Region Nine (seven cases) and Region 10 (eight cases).
Additionally, there are 36 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 116 people in institutional isolation, 3,535 are in home isolation, and three people are in institutional quarantine.
Importantly, a total of 29,435 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
