Male nurse who jumped into trench to flee cops found with gun
Just after 19:00hrs on Tuesday police arrested a 24-year-old male nurse along Woolford Avenue, Georgetown for possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Police on motorcycle patrol were on Woolford Avenue proceeding east when the nurse, who was driving a gold and black XR motorcycle, was stopped by the ranks.
Police said he suddenly dismounted the motorcycle, ran and jumped into a nearby trench. The ranks pursued him and he was subsequently apprehended.
Checks were made in the trench where he had jumped and a silver .32 revolver with the serial number filed off was found.
He was told of the offence committed and cautioned where he remained silent. He was escorted to the Alberttown Police Station where he was placed into custody and the firearm was marked, sealed and lodged along with the motorcycle.
