Ramdhani “a technical mastermind”, says Broncos Athletics
Broncos Athletics has paid tribute to the late president of the Guyana Badminton Association, Gokarn Ramdhani, labelling him “a technical mastermind.”
Ramdhani, who was also the long-serving national coach, suffered a massive heart attack last Friday in Canada, where he was residing with his children- national and Caribbean badminton champions Narayan and Priyanna- who are on scholarship.
Last November, Ramdhani, who would have turned 56 in December, was appointed Head Coach of the Olds College Broncos Badminton team in Alberta, Canada.
In 2019, he was the Technical Coach of the Broncos, who copped one silver and five bronze medals at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference Provincial Championships and placed fourth at Nationals in Mississauga, Canada.
Below is a tribute by Broncos Athletics
Broncos Athletics is deeply saddened by the sudden death of Broncos Badminton Head Coach, Gokarn Ramdhani on October 8, 2021. Gokarn was an incredibly talented and dedicated coach, father and friend.
Our thoughts and sympathies are with friends and family of Gokarn and in particular his wife and his two children, both of whom are incredibly accomplished Badminton players.
Priyanna plays for Olds College and her brother plays for The King’s University.
A memorial for Gokarn will be on display outside the Broncos Athletics office in the CLC starting October 12, 2021. Anyone wishing to pay their respects can drop by anytime and leave a note or tribute to Gokarn.
Gokarn is a sporting legend from his native Guyana where he served as President of the Badminton Federation.
Beloved by his athletes, Gokarn will be remembered as a great friend and mentor on and off of the court.
A technical mastermind in the badminton world, what he contributed on the court was just as valuable as the positivity and love he showed off of it.
