Woman, 45, among 4 new COVID deaths; 122 new cases
A 45-year-old woman from Region Three (Essequibo Islands- West Demerara) is among the four latest COVID-19 deaths reported by the Ministry of Health on Saturday.
The woman died on October 15 and her vaccination status is unknown. A 65-year-old unvaccinated woman from Region Four (Demerara- Mahaica) and a 68-year-old partially vaccinated woman from Region Six (East Berbice- Corentyne) both died on October 16.
A 59-year-old-man from Region Five (Mahaica- Berbice) also died on October 15; he was fully vaccinated.
With these additional deaths, October’s death toll has increased to 67, while Guyana’s overall COVID-19 death toll has increased to 866.
Meanwhile, another 122 additional people were infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the disease COVID-19. These new cases were recorded from 864 PCR tests and increased the total number of infections recorded since March 11 last year to 34,362.
These new cases were recorded in: Region Two (five cases), Region Three (23 cases), Region Four (45 cases), Region Five (seven cases), Region Six (27 cases), Region Seven (four cases), Region Nine (four cases) and Region 10 (seven cases).
There are also 28 people in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 125 people in institutional isolation, four people in institutional quarantine and 3,624 in home isolation.
Importantly, a total of 29,719 people recovered since being infected with COVID-19.
