Fifth place finish for ‘Green Machine’ at RAN Sevens
The ‘Green Machine’, Guyana’s senior national Men’s rugby team, finished fifth in the Rugby Americas North (RAN) Sevens tournament in the Turks and Caicos at the weekend.
After losing both their preliminary games in the Cup competition on Sunday, Guyana had to settle for a spot in the fifth place playoff, which they won, beating the British Virgin Islands 43-0.
Earlier in the day, they lost 24-0 to eventual champions Jamaica and 26-5 to Barbados.
On Saturday, the Guyanese, seven-time champions of the tournament, had mixed results, beating Belize 36-5 and then losing to Bermuda 15-7 in Pool C action.
