Headmaster of Mackenzie High dies from COVID-19
Haslyn Small, the headmaster of the Mackenzie High School in Region 10 (Upper Demerara- Berbice), passed away from COVID-19 on Monday, hours after being admitted to the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the National Infectious Diseases Hospital at Liliendaal, Georgetown.
According to information provided to the News Room, the man tested positive on October 16; he was reportedly partially vaccinated – that is, he had only received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
The News Room understands that Small was 50-years-old and had a history of diabetes and hypertension. These underlying conditions are known as comorbidities.
