A 53-year-old man of No. 47 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, was charged and remanded to prison on Thursday for causing actual bodily harm and threatening his wife Savitri Bhola, 40.
Basdeo Bhola, called ‘Orvo’, was caught on surveillance camera beating the woman with a cutlass. She suffered cuts and bruises to the body.
Basdeo appeared at the No. 51 Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Alex Moore and pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was remanded to prison until November 03, 2021.
Police Headquarters reported that Basdeo was arrested on October 16, 2021.
