COVID hotspots in Regions 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 & 10

Guyana continues to see a surge in COVID-19 cases and the Ministry of Health is urging people to get vaccinated.

In his daily update on Thursday, the subject minister Dr Frank Anthony revealed several regions that are hotspots across the country.

Wakapoa in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) remains a COVID-19 hotspot with 37 cases and a number of communities in Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) continue to record a high number of cases over the past weeks.

This include; Tuschen (99 cases), Parfaite Harmonie (67 cases), Vreed-en-Hoop (60 cases), Parika (59 cases), Crane (58  cases), Pouderoyen (57 cases), Cornelia Ida (54 cases), Zeelugt (54 cases), Hague (46 cases), Westminster (40 cases), Uitvlugt (40 cases), La Grange (39 cases), Anna Catherina (38 cases), Leonora (36 cases), Goed Fortuin (31 cases), Sisters Village (34 cases) and Patentia (30 cases).

In Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) on the East Bank of Demerara the communities with the highest number of cases include Diamond (60 cases), Grove (57 cases) and Herstelling and Soesdyke have 25 cases each.

On the East Coast of Demerara: Mon Repos (28 cases), Haslington (22 cases), Non Pareil (21 cases), Victoria (21 cases), Lusignan (20 cases) and Paradise (20 cases).

In Georgetown: Sophia (91 cases), Kitty (45 cases), Campbellville (43 cases), South Ruimvedlt (36 cases), Lodge (34 cases), Cummings Lodge (32 cases) and West Ruimvedlt (30 cases).

There are 27 cases in New Amsterdam, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne); 40 cases in Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) and in Region Ten (Upper Demerara-Berbice) Wismar (71 cases), Amelia’s Ward (32 cases) and McKenzie (20 cases).
