Fisherman, 47, drowns at No. 63 Beach
The body of 47-year-old Vanryck Persaud was found floating next to his fishing seine at the No. 63 Beach, Corentyne, Berbice, on Thursday.
Persaud, a fisherman of No. 64 Village, left his house early on Thursday to retrieve his seine and never returned home.
His 17-year-old son then went in search of him and discovered his body.
Police suspect that the man may have drowned sometime between 09:00hrs and 12:00hrs on Thursday.
The fisherman’s body was taken to the Skeldon Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A post-mortem examination is expected to be done soon, the police said, while noting no marks of violence were found on the body.
