Tuschen businessman murdered in house; was tied up, mouth stuffed with cloth

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 59-year-old businessman of Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo whose body was found bound and restrained on Sunday in an apparent robbery/murder.

Dead is Keith Richard Hohenkirk, an amputee popularly known as ‘Onefoot’.

The incident occurred sometime between 18:40hrs on Saturday and 06:39hrs on Sunday.

Police Headquarters noted that the businessman lived alone and operated a small grocery shop at the front of his house.

He was last seen alive on Saturday night his neighbour on his front veranda.

According to the report, on Sunday at around 06:39hrs, the neighbour went to check on the businessman and found his front door unlocked; she noticed the entire hall and kitchen area ransacked.

“Further checks in the bedroom revealed the victim lying motionless on his back with his hands tied up with transparent scotch tape and his mouth tied with a piece of brown cloth,” the police report stated.

Police were then called to the scene.

No marks of violence were seen on his body and it was taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Parlour awaiting an autopsy.
