Better Hope teen killed in hit and run

A 17-year-old male of Better Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was killed after a white motorcar struck him off his motorcycle and fled the scene.

Dead is Romeo Edghill, a construction worker.

Police Headquarters reported that the accident occurred at about 21:00hrs on Sunday at the Ogle Railway Embankment, ECD.

Edghill who was not wearing a helmet, was proceeding east along the northern side of the Railway Embankment.

The white motorcar with unknown license plates was in front of the motorcycle when Edghill attempted to overtake the car, but the driver of the car made a sudden right turn colliding with the motorcycle, Police reported.

Police said Edghill lost control and fell onto the road, while the driver of the car fled the scene.

Edghill received severe head injuries and was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
