Policemen on patrol from the Golden Grove/Diamond Police Station, East Bank Demerara, have arrested a 34-year-old man who was wanted for allegedly raping a child under the age of 16 five years ago.
Hemraj Sankar, called Raymond, was arrested on Monday at about 17:00hrs on the Diamond Housing Scheme Public Road.
Police Headquarters reported that Sankar was positively identified as the perpetrator who reportedly raped a child in 2016 in Region Two.
Sankar will be transferred to Region Two for the continuation of investigations into the matter.
