Three men were arrested after 9.9 pounds of cannabis and two shotguns with 12 cartridges were found in their possession.
Police Headquarters said two men, aged 39 and 44, were in a boat along the Calabash Creek in the Canje River when ranks on duty observed them acting suspiciously. The drugs were found in the boat on Wednesday at about 14:30hrs after a search was conducted.
Police said the drugs were wrapped in three plastic bags. The men were told of the offence and police said they both replied: ‘Officer give meh a chance is a lil hustle’.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday at about 15:40hrs, police went to a house at Canje Creek where they found a 51-year-old cash crop farmer with the two shotguns – a Stevens USA made 16 gauge and a Russian made 16-gauge shotgun along with 12 cartridges.
The firearms and ammunition were discovered inside a mattress.
All three men were taken to the Central Police Station and placed into custody. Police have also lodged all of the items.
