COVID-19: Six people die in one day; 94 new cases

Six people, including a 46-year-old unvaccinated woman from Region Four (Demerara- Mahaica), died on Thursday according to the Ministry of Health.

The latest fatalities are listed below:

The ministry said that the patients were admitted to medical facilities with COVID-19 like symptoms but died while receiving care. With these new deaths, the death toll for October has increased to 111while a total of 910 deaths have been recorded since March 11, 2020.

Meanwhile, a total of 94 new infections have been recorded over a 24 hour period. The total number of infections recorded in Guyana since March last year has increased to 35,444

The new cases were recorded in: Region One (one new case), Region Two (six new cases), Region Three (15 cases), Region Four (28 cases), Region Five (four cases), Region Six (16 cases), Region Seven (two cases), Region Eight (17 cases) and Region 10 (five cases).

Additionally, there are 17 patients receiving treatment in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 68 individuals in institutional isolation, 2,816 people in home isolation and five people in institutional quarantine.

Importantly, a total of 31,633 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
