The partially decomposed body of a so far unidentified man was discovered floating in a trench at Tain Village, Corentyne, Berbice on Sunday by a security guard.
The News Room understands that the security guard went to work at approximately 06:00hrs and at about 07:30hrs he noticed the body floating in the trench face down.
The trench is located opposite his guard hut. The security guard immediately raised an alarm and contacted the police. The body was clad in a black, red and white jersey and a dark coloured short trouser.
The body is in a partial state of decomposition and the ears appeared to have been bitten off.
The body was taken to the Port Mourant Public Hospital and later transported to the Ramoo Funeral Home awaiting identification and an autopsy.
