Gold miner found dead after complaining of feeling unwell
Sixty-two-year-old Christopher Abel, a gold miner, was discovered dead at Peesink Landing, Cuyuni River on Friday last.
Abel of Catherine, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara complained of feeling unwell and according to the police, the elderly man had indicated that he did not have money to take care of himself or to travel home.
Abel was found motionless at about 05:30hrs on Friday in the veranda of an abandoned shop.
Police said no marks of violence were observed on the body.
“The body is currently on Peesink Landing in a decomposing state awaiting transportation to be transferred to Bartica,” the police stated.
