Two COVID deaths; 81 new cases recorded

An unvaccinated man from Region One (Barima-Waini) and a fully vaccinated woman from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) died from COVID-19 on November 1, the Ministry of Health reported on Wednesday.

The latest fatalities take the total number of deaths since March 2020 to 928. It also means that two people have died in November thus far.

The ministry noted that the man was 83-year-old and the woman was 80-year-old.

Meanwhile, 81 new COVID-19 cases were recorded from 1, 172 tests. This means that a total of 35, 800 people tested positive for the virus thus far.

The new cases were recorded in; Region One (one case), Region Two (four cases), Region Three (15 cases), Region Four (31 cases), Region Five (five cases), Region Six (12 cases), Region Seven (eight cases), Region Eight (one case) and Region Ten (four cases).

There are 18 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital; 57 patients are in institutional isolation and 2, 455 patients are in home isolation.

To date, 32, 342 persons have recovered from the virus.
