Three new COVID deaths; 77 new cases, 12 in ICU

Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll is now 945 with the addition of three new deaths, the Ministry of Health reported on Monday.

The three persons- two men and a woman hailing from Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) and Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica)- were all unvaccinated.

It should be noted that one of the ‘latest’ reported deaths occurred on October 31, which means that 127 people would have succumbed from the dreaded virus in October.

And thus far, 18 deaths have been recorded in November.

Meanwhile, a total of 77 individuals became infected with the virus over a 24-hour period. These new cases were recorded after 471 tests were conducted. This means that the overall number of confirmed cases in Guyana has increased to 36,257.

These new cases were recorded in: Region Three (one case), Region Four (three cases), Region Six (70 cases), Region Seven (two cases) and Region 10 (one case).

There are also 12 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 73 people are in institutional isolation, five people are in institutional quarantine and 2,514 people are in home isolation.

Importantly, a total of 32,713 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
