Fisherman found with ganja, suspected stolen items arrested


Police on the West Coast of Demerara have arrested a 25-year-old fisherman who was found with several suspected stolen items and a quantity of leaves, seeds and stem suspected to be cannabis.

Police Headquarters reported that the fisherman was arrested on Tuesday at Oceans Gardens, Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara.

According to the police report, police ranks went to the fisherman’s home to search for drugs, guns, ammunition and stolen items.

Five pairs of boots, a green water pump, a blue Angle grinder and an electric drill was found instead.

Police said the fisherman was questioned about the items and “could not give a reasonable explanation on how he acquired them.”

The fisherman was arrested as investigations continue.
