Three men charged with rape placed on bail

Three men who appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court on Monday were charged separately with the offence of rape.

All three men are from East Coast Demerara; Erwin Owen Marcus, 40, Randel Williams, 30, and 48-year-old Glenroy McKenzie were not required to plea to the indictable charges when it was read to them.

Their cases are not related.

Marcus was placed on $500,000 bail and the matter was adjourned to January 11, 2022.

Meanwhile, Police Headquarters reported that Williams was arrested on October 2, 2021 for reportedly raping a child under the age of 16.

He was placed on $150,000 bail, while his passport was lodged and he is required to report to the Cove and John Police Station every Wednesday.

McKenzie, also known as ‘Tall Man’ or ‘Mac’, was arrested on February 27, 2021, for the alleged rape of a child under 16.

McKenzie was also placed on $150,000 bail and is required to report to the Vigilance Police Station every Saturday.

Both matters have been adjourned to December 02, 2021.
