Knife-wielding bandit robs superbet outlet in Tuschen
Police are on the hunt for a man who attacked and robbed an 18-year-old cashier attached to the superbet outlet at Tuschen Public Road, East Bank Essequibo.
Police Headquarters reported that the armed robbery occurred at around 21:00hrs on Tuesday and that the bandit escaped with $367,000 in cash.
Initial investigations revealed that the cashier was closing the shop when the suspect walked in and pulled out a white knife from his waist; he pointed it to the victim’s chest and subsequently beat the young man about his body and slammed his head against wall.
The suspect then went into the cashier area and removed the money from a box before escaping on foot.
The victim raised an alarm and the police were summoned. The victim received injuries to his right side jaw area and as a result, he was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was seen by a doctor on duty, treated and sent away.
